Grower support for our marketing initiatives is crucial.
Wool
Partners has taken a leadership initiative and commencing 14 January
2010 has implemented a voluntary 3% charge against the greasy wool price
for all wool growers that transact wool through Wool Partners.
This
fee is known as the Wool Market Development Fee. Use of this fee within
Wool Partners will be dedicated solely to the marketing of New Zealand
strong wool in the global market.
Contribution to this fee is
currently optional and at present growers can opt out of paying this fee
if they wish, however, growers who support this fee will gain
preferential access to grower contracts as well as the opportunity to
register under the Wool Partners Integrity Program.
- What Is It?
- The Wool Market Development Fee (WMDF) is a charge of 3%
against the greasy wool price for all wool that growers transact through
Wool Partners whether through auction, contract or direct sale. This
fee will be used to drive demand for NZ strong wool through the
in-market programmes carried out by our subsidiary Wools of New Zealand.
- What Does It Fund?
- Wool Partners International is led by a brand marketing
philosophy that will grow demand for New Zealand strong wool. We do this
by collaborating with our international trade partners to develop
compelling market support packages. We manage this work through
maintaining a presence in the key international markets of Europe, North
America and Asia.
Wool Partners International, through Wools of
New Zealand, is the only New Zealand strong wool entity that has expert
staff in the key markets in the US, UK and China, working closely with
the users of our fibre (carpet yarn spinners, manufacturers, retailers
and designers) to grow demand for NZ wool carpets and rugs. Further,
Wools of New Zealand is the only established brand differentiating
quality NZ strong wool products (primarily carpets and rugs).
- What Are The Marketing Initiatives?
- Laneve
Wools of New Zealand introduced a
number of new programmes earlier this year at the major flooring
tradeshows in Europe, North America and Asia, including our new wool
integrity brand, Laneve™.
Wool Benefit System
A
sophisticated wool presentation system was developed for high end
carpet retailers – the Wool Benefit System. This utilises the latest
touch-screen computers and helps to show both consumers and retailers
the benefits of New Zealand wool.
Wool Partner Integrity Program
Wool
Partners is building an integrated supply chain linking growers more
directly to the users of their wool. An important step has been the
recent launch of the Wool Partners Integrity Program,
which will independently authenticate the processes and practices
commonly employed by farmers as being both ethical and environmentally
sustainable. This programme underpins our Laneve™ integrity brand so we
can make credible claims of sustainability and traceability.
