That strategy came from a joint initiative of New Zealand Trade and
Enterprise and Meat and Wool New Zealand to develop and implement a
programme that would see the recovery of the New Zealand wool sector.
In
July 2008 Wool Grower Holdings Limited, a subsidiary of Wool Industry
Network, entered into a joint venture with PGG Wrightson to establish a
grower-owned wool company capable of realising the strategic aspirations
outlined in the wool strategy.
This joint venture has resulted
in the creation of the first fully integrated wool supply and marketing
company in New Zealand, Wool Partners International. With the purchase
in October 2008 of the Wools of New Zealand group of companies and
exporting company Bloch and Behrens, Wool Partners now boasts the
largest supply platform, and the only international marketing
infrastructure for strong wool.
